Job Summary:
​
The Swamper/Spotter plays a key role in supporting the installation and operation of heavy equipment and performing general labor tasks on civil construction sites. This role involves assisting operators, preparing construction sites, and performing a variety of hands-on duties that ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. The Swamper/Spotter works closely with equipment operators, supervisors, and other team members to meet project deadlines while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Assistance: Support heavy equipment operators by providing ground assistance, signaling, and positioning during equipment operations such as excavation, grading, and foundation installation.

General Labor: Perform a variety of labor-intensive tasks including shoveling, lifting, loading, and moving materials, ensuring the worksite is prepared for construction activities.

Equipment Handling: Assist in the loading and unloading of construction materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring everything is properly secured and accounted for.

Site Cleanup: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the construction site, removing debris and ensuring that tools and equipment are properly stored.

Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols on the job site, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), reporting hazards, and ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.

Equipment Maintenance: Assist with basic maintenance and care of tools and equipment, including cleaning and performing routine checks to ensure functionality.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with operators, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure tasks are completed according to specifications and on schedule.

Physical Demands: Perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions, including lifting, carrying, and using hand tools for extended periods.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a construction or labor-related role, preferably in civil construction.

Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying, and engaging in manual labor for extended periods.

Experienced in operating or assisting with heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, and cranes

Ability to follow instructions, collaborate within a team, maintain a strong work ethic, and work independently.

Strong commitment to safety protocols and a safe work environment.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required

Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain focus to achieve goals independently.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in civil construction projects such as foundations, utility systems, or industrial infrastructure.

Certifications in basic safety programs (e.g., HAZMAT, or first aid) are a plus.

Certifications in safety, such as OSHA 30-hour training.
