Job Title: ESTIMATOR

Job Summary:

​

The Estimator plays a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of projects by accurately calculating the costs associated with materials, labor, and equipment. This position involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop comprehensive estimates that align with project goals and budgets. The Estimator is responsible for analyzing project specifications, conducting site visits, and assessing project risks to deliver precise and detailed cost projections. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards to ensure that estimates are realistic and competitive.

Key Responsibilities:

​

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.

​

  • Bid Preparation: Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to develop and submit bids and proposals.

​

  • Specification Analysis: Review project drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the scope and requirements of each project.

​

  • Supplier Coordination: Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing for materials and equipment, ensuring competitive rates.​

​

  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate project risks and uncertainties, factoring them into the estimates to account for potential cost variations.

​

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure that estimates meet project goals and budgets.

​

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all estimates, bids, and supporting documentation for future reference and audits.

​

  • Cost Tracking: Monitor project costs and budgets throughout the construction process, updating estimates as necessary to reflect changes.

​

Requirements:

​

  • Proven experience as an estimator in construction or a related industry.

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost factors.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.

  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to work with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

​

  • Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects.

  • Certifications in cost estimation, such as those from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE).

  • Familiarity with project management software.

  • Knowledge of industry regulations.

​

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with frequent travel to project sites for inspections and assessments.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours during busy bidding periods.

  • Involves working closely with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders in both office and field environments.
